How to Make Thousands in WoW Gold Farming the Black Tabby

Since the release of latest WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King many players are in a frenzy trying to collect as many vanity pets as possible. The reason for this is simple: you can earn some very impressive “achievements” that reward you for collecting large number of these pets.
One such pet is so rare and valuable that some Alliance players will pay 2000g or more to possess it. This vanity pet is called the Black Tabby. The reason why it is so rare is that it is only farmable by a Horde character and it drops from a rare NPC called the Dalaran Spellscribe who spawns once every 4-6 hours in the village of Ambermill in the Horde controlled area called Silverpine Forest in the Eastern Kingdoms.
What Level Should My Character Be?
Since the Dalaran Spellscribe is a level 21 mob you’ll need to have a Horde character that is at least level 19 in order to kill it. One handy tip: if you happen to have a level 55 plus character on any server, you are eligible to create a Horde Death Knight to farm this NPC by bringing him over to Ambermill.
Where Does He Spawn?
The Dalaran Spellscribe spawns only inside the walled village of Ambermill and appears in one of three locations:
- He can spawn in the small house just north of the town hall
- He can spawn inside the town hall itself
- He can spawn inside the large house directly south of the town hall
Be aware that he is always surrounded by other mobs — so kill him first because if you die you can always come back and loot him.
More Tips
He has a 19% chance to drop the Black Tabby pet carrier so be patient as it will probably take you a while to get it. What I do is park my farming character just inside the town games with his back to the wall. Then log your character on a few times per day to see if the Dalaran Spellscribe is up.
To make things even easier, you should create a special macro that will target this NPC. Here’s the only line you need to have in your macro:
/target Dalaran Spellscribe
The last thing you need to know is that in order to sell this vanity pet for the maximum profit you’ll need to smuggle the pet to an Alliance auction house using a friend or a second account via a neutral Goblin auction house.
